Wk 6 Social Bookmarking
Greetings Social Media Marketers
I hope that everyone is doing great! Hopefully by now you are really enjoying jumping around from platform to platform and happily participating in numerous social media activities. As you well know, there is a lot of amazing information out on the web. However, have you ever tried to tell someone about something cool you saw or read, but when you try to show them you realize you can't remember where you saw it! Was that on Facebook, wait no it was on Twitter? It can actually get confusing. Good news there is a way to organize and keep track of all of the cool things you see online. Better still, there's a way to find what other people thought was really cool online. It's called, SOCIAL BOOKMARKING.
One of the original and biggest social bookmarking platforms is Delicious this is a great tool for heavy users who are really serious about bookmarking and organizing. I highly recommend this tool if you are using social media for business. Today, I'd argue that the most widely-popular bookmarking site is Pinterest. Pinterest is more of a visually driven "pinning" system where as Delicious is well suited for written articles and information. For more fun facts about Pinterest take a look at these stats.
So, I'd love to hear from you class, do you use social booking marking? -If so, which one do you use? -Do you like it?
Happy Marketing!
Dr. G

I am not sure if I am using a social bookmark, but I use hashtags on instagram and Facebook. That way, I get to see some posts that are related with the hashtags that I used. Since majority use either Facebook or Instagram, there are hundreds of pictures or posts for one specific hashtag. I also heard about Pinterest and I used to use it before, but nowadays I use hashtags more occasionally. Throughout this source, I get to see some particular features globally.
ReplyDeleteI never used social bookmarking before, but I always knew that social bookmarking exists. Now I know how to use it, I can't wait to bookmark what I want to show. I'd like to use Pinterest and the twitter bookmarking(?), such as things that to show my followers my new posts!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard about booking marking ! Thanks for it, I will try this in the future. This is a good tool to helps you organize your ideas.
ReplyDeleteHello!
ReplyDeleteI don't use a special social bookmarking platform. I have a Pinterest account but I am not very active on it. Actually, when I see something interesting on Facebook I use the option "save" or "send in messenger" if I want to send it to someone. I use the same tool "save" on Instagram especially for location that I want to go or things I really like. I found this option very helpful.
This app, Delicious, can be a great alternative to organize content easily.
I sometimes had a problem when I wasn't able to find the actual site that I was looking for. So I began to use the "bookmark" function when I thought it was needed. I really think it is a useful tool.
ReplyDeleteI have bookmarked some sites or articles as I am one of those who forget where I saw what. However, I have not attempted to organize my bookmarked sites. At this time, this works for me as I do not have a lot of sites/materials, but I am sure sooner or later, I will need something like Delicious. I am sure this will make life so much easier for me.
ReplyDeleteHey!
ReplyDeleteIt's the first time that I hear about Social Bookmarking. I've never used this platform... Ahahah it's a new term for me!
As you said, I think that is very important for your business. For example, we can say that it's a powerful promotional tool for your business and will improve your traffic.
By the way, I saw in an article that with "Social Bookmarking" users can view these bookmarks in a chronological order by tags or categories via a search engine.
Therefore, I'm persuaded that Social Bookmarking is very useful!
I have never heard about bookmarking before you mentioned it in this post, although I find that idea great, so many times I wanted to show stuff to my friends or family but I forget on what platform did I see it.
ReplyDeleteNow on, I will definitely use bookmarkers for my personal or future professional purpose.
Social bookmarking (and mostly Delicious) is a completely new term for me, I can't really understand what it is doing though. Although I read the article you linked I still can't understand what the term englobes, is seems to be different as google alert on specific trends/topics and also different from news feed like Feedly or others. Here you talk about "saving" social media post we liked? or are trending in our niche or any specific topic or users. It seems to include a "historic" tool then. For now it looks like my google chrome as I can favorite any pages ans so "save" them plus I can reach back old pages I've seen before via my historic. But I know I'm wrong though, the only problem is that I tried to sign in to Delicious and figure it out but my 2 email adresses lead to an "unknown error" during my sign in attempts therefore I still can't tell what this app/ website is doing. If any of you know how to fix my problem please let me know :)
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI used social bookmarking with Pinterest sometimes without knowing that it was actually called like this, and its true utility. It's certain that these apps can really help us having our ideas from internet well organized. Pinterest helped me when I needed to get some inspiration for a project, the pictures and the pinning method are the best way to get ideas and put them in different topics. I can perfectly see the purpose of bookmarking in a professional environment, I will definitely use it.
I have never heard of social book marking. I hear it is a good tool to promote website. If i want to become a professional social media marker, I should be more familiar with some social book marking tools.
ReplyDeleteI did not know about social book marking. Who ever had that idea was a genius, I'm going to start using it for sure. I use Pinterest sometimes but the information is limited. For example for recipes, many of them show pictures with incomplete information . Thanks for sharing all your knowledge with us .
ReplyDeleteI have never used a bookmarking. After reading the article. It seems to be very interesting and useful. I will try to use it more. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteYou bought up a very interesting topic about Social bookmarking platform. This is the new word I learned from you.. I asked my daughter, who is addicted to many of the social media platforms mostly Pinterest, Instagram and Snapshots, about this. When I asked her about bookmarking platform, her response was "I never heard of it" Ah! Finally I learned something that she doesn't know. I look forward learning more about https://del.icio.us/tools that could be beneficial for my business.
ReplyDeleteI have never used a bookmarking and of course I have never used it. When I find cool something and I want to see it to friends, I always use ways to do "save" photos or do screen shots on Instagram. In addition, I often do "like" to remember the post on Twitter. However, I learned some social bookmarking platforms from your article, and I decided to use them. It is so interesting and helpful for me. Thank you for sharing them with us!
ReplyDeleteHi !
ReplyDeleteI've never heard about bookmarking but It seems pretty interesting ! This is one thing I'm gonna use for sure with my friends because that kind of situation happened to me a lot !
Hey!
ReplyDeleteIt's the first time that I hear about social bookmarking, but from your description and the link attached it looks extremely useful. On a personal basis, I can definitely relate to the situation, ahaha. I look forward in using it and I think it will help me a lot in the near future !
Hi!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of the term "Social Bookmarking," but I think I have used it although not in the exact context you are speaking about. I have used to Pintrest a couple times, I think in terms of social bookmarking I use in an unconventional manner. See, I use Tumblr and even Twitter as a ways of saving videos, gifs, and pictures that I like so that I can more easily find them later. I don't know if this is exactly social bookmarking, but it sounds pretty similar.
