Wk3 Selecting Content and Channels
Greetings Class
I hope that everyone is doing great! This week we focus on content creation. So far, we have been using Facebook, Blogs, Twitter, and we soon will add YouTube. So the question becomes, how do you know what content to share and through what media channel? Is it possible to engage fully in all of these media formats at once? If you had to select only two media channels, which two would you choose to be your primary social media channels and why? Share any strategies that you use for managing your social media.

Creation and the mostly freedom given to creators on the internet is the only thing that I like in Social media networks. They helped millions of people sharing art, knowledge, fun, smiles with each others. But this is true that you can't upload all types of content on all types of Social media (nowadays you could say that you can upload any type of content on every most famous social media network) and there is a hierarchy on what social media is best for videos, photos, fun, politic...
ReplyDeleteTo know where you should upload you have to ask yourself what was the platform created for?
Instagram : Photos
Twitter : Journalists, News
Youtube : Videos
Pinterest : Artistic Boards
Facebook : Create a network with school friends
And so on...
It is not possible to fully engage on every social media network at once (even though many BIG companies that hire lots of community managers spread their presence on all the medias), a choice need to be done. A choice lead by the field of your creation. Are you a speaker? Are you a video maker ? are you a photographer? Users on Twitter don't really engage with big photo albums neither Youtube users don't engage with politics comments. But, for example as a professional photographer @PeterMckinnon is both a photographer on Instagram where he reaches the goal of the media and so a lot a users and a video maker on Youtube where he also reaches the goal of the media.
As I wish to develop a photographic business I would apply a similar strategy. Focus my time on the most used visual/photographic medias that are Instagram and Youtube. Later on, if the business grows I could also use Twitter as really personal and spontaneous mean to communicate with my close audience, organise contests, reach out with my fans and ask their opinion such as a marketing research/survey. With those feedbacks I would be able to improve my content and my brand.
If I was a big firm I would try to be on every social media to reach out the different audience they all represent (Instagram : 34 YO Woman, Youtube : 35 YO Man, Snapchat : 17 YO Woman, ...). Who is your target and do you want to conquer new market shares. If you need more social media you will need to hire a team to manage all your profiles. But at first the best strategy remains to focus on your best networks and then maybe with time... spread.

ReplyDeleteSince my brand is about Coin karaoke, I want to share songs and videos that is popular among people, including famous talents. To do those kind of works, I think Twitter and Facebook is the best media because you can put links that directly goes to the contents that I want to share.
ReplyDeleteI think we can engage these media because it has similar functions though it’s different in details. It’s because we can adjust to it through several access. However, it can be a problem if you don’t have enough followers in the start of your brand account.
I would pick Twitter and Facebook to be my primary social media channels because I can share(in facebook) and re-tweet(in twitter) the contents directly to my followers. However, like I said before it can be hard to promote a brand in the first few weeks or months. So we can use hashtag, and keyword to catch people’s attention. In next step we can use sharing function in the social media.
Hello everyone! I hope you guys had a wonderful weekend. For the week 3 question, I would like to share my personal thought or experience more, and here it goes.
ReplyDeleteTo begin with, media channel is a specific medium used to reach audiences, such as newspapers, radio stations, television stations and more. There are some ways to make content that engages people, such as
1. Google+, providing a unique blend of features and benefits
2. Email and social media work hand in hand
3. Data providing directions
Also, we can share contents like evergreen contents, re-create posts or even create several social media posts from a piece of content. Evergreen contents are like reviewing blog posts or articles that you have read. For instance, on Facebook, lots of videos related with animals are being posted up on other people’s status, and more people get to share the same posts on their webpage. By sharing the posts, the numbers of people who can view them, are increasing exponentially. If the post was about abusing an animal and numerous people have criticized the criminal, perhaps the animal law might be strengthened in the future. Therefore, the more the number of sharing a posts increases, the more the people become powerful.
I personally share posts like serious issues, cute animals, and famous places to go. I want my people around me to know about that information too, since those factors were interesting to me, and I hope others might feel the same. Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter are the most common social media that people use to share much information around the world.
Unfortunately, I think it is impossible to engage fully in all these media formats at once, since the numbers of issues are countless. However, I believe those social medias help people to engage on some issues or information. Without the usage of social media, I think people would not know any of the major or minor issues around the world.
Last but not least, if I had to select only two media channels, I would like to choose Facebook for sure, and CNN news report for the other choice. Since majority use Facebook to share their thoughts and get some information about what is happening around the world, I cannot avoid using it too. Furthermore, CNN news reports seem more famous than those news medias in Korea. I used to live in Canada before and watched CNN news more than Korean news program. CNN news not only talk about Canada, but major big issues around the world relatively quickly. When I was in Canada, I was able to know a specific information related with Korea, before my Korean friends who actually live in Korea! Thus, these two social medias are my primary social media channels and I am really enjoying watching them
As I am interested in taking photos and looking other photographer’s works, I would like to take Instagram as an example. I think Instagram is the best social media to share photos because it provides photo editing section, comments, hashtags, and especially can upload high-quality photos compared to other media. Also, there might be some problems if we use all of these social media at once, because every social media has both sides and might cause problems managing all at once. So I think the best way is to find the right type of social media according to the content. Lastly, if I had to choose two media channels I would first choose Instagram along with Facebook. The reason is that they both can share photos easily, more people are using those two rather than Twitter, and up-loading speed is very fast compared to Youtube or writing a blog. The method I use when managing my social media is to provide as many information as I can, and to write interesting story related to it.
ReplyDeleteTo me, it feels like most platforms are interconnected (or have the potential to be, anyway). For example, you can tweet a link to your blog post or Instagram photo. Widgets have made it easy to post articles to Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and more with the click of a button. A key component of any social media strategy would be identifying how to leverage as many platforms as you can to get your message out (without overwhelming users or feeling "spammy"). For me, the most applicable channels right now are Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook. Since I am currently looking for a job, I'd choose LinkedIn over Facebook.
ReplyDeleteHello everybody! Choosing which content to post on social media is a strategic question: you have to be catchy, original and engaging. The post has to be in accordance with your image, your brand. To know what content to share, a research can be done to identify the needs of your target and to what they react. Then you have to decided through what media channel you want to reach your target, which is the most appropriate.
ReplyDeleteYou can't engage fully in the same way your target. Each social media has its own audience and its own caracteristics (photo/ videos/ words..). You can create the same ad for all those media but you have to adapt it; a video for YouTube, a photo for Instagram, a tweet for twitter...
If I had to select only 2 media channels I would use first Instagram, because it is the most easy to use I think and because it's easier to communicate with pictures. Also, I think that Instagram would be more suitable for my target. Then, my second media would be Twitter. On Twitter you can communicate directly with consumer which can be helpful if you launch a new product for example, because people may have questions about it and you just have to answer to them by tagging. With hashtags on twitter you can reach more people and create a trend and go viral, and it's only possible with this social media.
To manage my social media I would track which hour is the best to post to reach a maximum of people. Also, replying to comments is really important because it means that you care about your consumers/followers and people are happy to be considered. Finally, I will update regularly my differents social media to be in lines with the times and not disconnected from what is happening.
Hi everyone !
ReplyDeleteHow do we select what to post in every social media ? Well we need to know first what channel is reserved for what type of media. If you're more a kind of video maker you will use Youtube. If you love taking pictures and want to share them with a big community you'll use Instagram, or Pinterest which is more adapted for artistic topics. If you like giving your opinion and being able to react instantly you'll need Twitter to express yourself. Each social media has its particularity and depending on what you want to share and what your final goal is you'll adapt your strategy.
Each media has its own audience, to catch teenagers you'll need Snapchat but if it's grown up people that you want better use Facebook which will give you a better visibility. It depends also of what your brand needs, and what is your main target. How will they react to your communication, depending of your utilization of social medias.
I don't think it is possible to engage fully in all these social media at once because it needs a lot of time and commitment, these networks are important but you can't focus on all of them at the same time. They ask for different forms of communication and to do your best you need to focus on some of them.
If I have to choose two social media channels I will pick Instagram and Facebook. Instagram because nowadays knowing how to use this network you can reach a solid base of followers who will become your main audience for your brand. And Facebook because doing your promotion there is very easy and as we all have old classmates and people we know from some occasion, our network is very expanded.
Hey
ReplyDeleteSo first if i have to choose two social media it will be the following : facebook and linkedin.
So facebook because if you contain is controlled and you avoid the classic mistakes of uncontrolled social activity that can have bad consequences, this social media can be a marvellous tools to keep contact with people from all around the world. Thanks to facebook i can wish his birthday to a friend i met 2 days , 4 years ago during a road trip in Bolivia. Those little things that let you keep contact all over the world with everybody you know, and as an international student i measure the power of that social media if well used.
Also linkedin as an evidency. That pro-social media is a tool that is necessary in today's world.
You have to control what you post on tose media but on all the others to. Advices for it could be to realize and understand the purpose of each tools , and to use them precariously. Youtube is video , instagram photos and Linkedin is for example not concerned of anything else than your professional life. Sharing personal feelings for example is a mistake.
Hi everyone,
DeleteIf like me you have already asked the question: "what is the best time to post on my Facebook page or Twitter? Then this little answer is made for you.
But here it is: with all these new businesses created by the help of social networks, it’s today difficult to see which practices correspond to your activity through all divergent opinions posted on the web.
For my part, I choose voluntarily to use Twitter and Facebook because they are today the two most consulted social networks in term of search for information, data, blogposts and other stuff.
Start by organizing your own data or analysis by posting at the best times for you, which I think are: 12pm, 4pm and 6pm, at least once or twice a week.
For this to have a positive effect on your page, the publication should look like the previous ones: only images or texts because for me, only the short and « flash » post will be seen by your potential customers.
Adapt to your target audience: Let's create a situation where you’re addressing yourself to painters or other building trades, and you know that most of them do not use their mobile to go to Facebook, you'll know present that publish the evening, when they return home and have access to a laptop or fixed, will be more effective for your Twitter strategy like Facebook.
Because, on a realistic point of view, it does not serve you at first to touch the college boy or girl who is bored in the back of the class on his cell phone at 2 o'clock in the afternoon, if you are looking to sell building tools.
Run "A / B testing": that is, tests with two options to see which moments are most effective for attaching a paid promotion (on Facebook) to your publication.
The question that arise is : « Should I post Immediately or a few hours later? » Only by testing these two options will you find the right solution for your business. Take the one that will ultimately have the most people.
I hope you enjoyed this short answer.
Emmanuel
Hi everyone!
ReplyDeleteIt's an obvious but very important reason: everybody uses the social media. Worse, we are connected to it all 24 hours a day and 7d/ 7 (or almost!). The success of the social media lives partially in the fact that we do not naturally support the boredom.
As far as I’m concerned, if I’ve to select only two media channels I’ll choose Facebook and LinkedIn. Let me explain you why:
To attract visitors to your web site, and especially convert it in prospects, then in customers, you have to propose some high value-added contents. These contents have to meet the expectations of your target, satisfy a need, inform him or distract it. Once your contents were drafted, it will be necessary to you to promote it. And it is why Facebook and LinkedIn come into play!
Share your contents on these various social networks, post links, images or still video there. If your contents are a quality contents, the quality will do its work and your contents will spread on the canvas.
However, if I’ve the choice between these two social media I’ll choose Facebook. Indeed, Facebook is the major social media. If you do not use it in your communication, you lose opportunities to seduce, hire and develop loyalty of the consumer. Worse, you give to your competitors, who they use them, a considerable advantage.
If you want that your brand image corresponds to your values and to the expectations of your targets, you have to develop a presence on Facebook.
In order to manage my social media, I’ll give a bigger importance to my subscribers and answer to all of their comments. People feel involved when you respond to them and share your latest posts and videos. To my mind, it’s an important strategy.
Hello everybody,
ReplyDeleteMy blog is about sports. On this week's post I spoke about golf and football. For my blog I'm picking the most recent event in sports and gave my comments and opinion. I have to be connected with what is happening by sitting in front of the TV, watching games, learning names etc. This week I watched The Farmers Insurance Open Golf Tournament to learn and be more knowledgeable about what I wanted to share on my blog. The same thing goes for Football , the big day is this weekend. Superbowl Sunday is just a few days away. I spoke about the two teams and their quarterbacks. I like Blogging because you can share the link on the other channels.
It's been very hard for me to engage in these media formats. I already had a Facebook and Instagram account that I used to just share pictures and check out recipes of healthy life styles. At the beginning with Blog I thought it was an unfriendly web page but little by little I'm getting very engaged with it .
If I have to select two media channels, I will select Blog and Instagram because I can use Blog as a source of income (advertisement ) and I think Instagram will cover all of my needs. You can put a video, pictures, and comments because it's very friendly and easy to use.
My only strategy right now is to be informed.

DeleteI'm well aware of my content and products. With that said, my goal is to make the content more socially and visually interactive by using the brand's "behind the scene" activities. To make it more exciting, my brand will develop new products launched two times a year to attract interested customers. I am able to build SMM content by showing the product's manufacturing production process, assembling line to the end user.
ReplyDeleteMany of us are able to engage as many media format at once by using Hootsuite which is one of the software that manages various social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, and etc. Hootsuite is like a dash board with bird eye view to watch and monitor all social media accounts and collects data of all responses and posts. Hootsuite user is capable of managing same content consistently about the brand that is posted at different channels.
The choices of two social media channels that my branding benefits from are Facebook and LinkedIn. Most business to business (B2B) like mine always use these two sites more than any other social media channels. Networking with B2B on LinkedIn is where other business leaders and CEO can learn more about my brand with specialized products and service that are geared for their businesses uses and promotions. My channels not just promotes my branding but will help market companies that depend on my branding.

Hi!
ReplyDeleteI think that twitter is the best channel for searching for fashion because many famous people tags the name of brand that they put on. Users can see many products only clicking the tag. When it comes to the marketing, they are fascinated by the products that look good just because famous people such as singers, actors and models wear, as a result the business is successful for promotion.
Is it possible to engage fully in all of these media formats at once? I think that it is not possible because there is no adequate time to handle them at once. These media will probably be neglected. Focusing on specific media is the best I think.
If I have to choose two social media channels, I will select Instagram and Blog. Instagram is a medium that most people use. You can promote your business with using hashtag because users often research things that they are interested in and Instagram has a function to save the picture on app and follow the hashtag. Besides, users are able to follow accounts by brand and get benefit information. Next, blog is a medium to introduce products easily and clearly by words and pictures. In addition, you don't have to worry about that readers miss the article because your tweets could easily be missed unless you tweet at the right time, when your followers are online.
The easiest way to know what content to share is to first know what it is you want to talk about. I, for example, have to be aware of what account I am on because I have one for my own use and one that I can show to the public. On my own account, for example, I might post things that I find funny, silly or cute, but these are not things I want to public to see. Therefore, on my public account, I would post things that are more professional. It is possible to engage in all social media platforms at once by making sure to post on each social media platform. It is a lot of work and may not pay off, but it is entirely possible. However, if I were to choose only two, I would have to choose Facebook and Twitter. Although I feel that Facebook is slowly dying, the majority of the social media using population are still on Facebook and therefore, it would be worthwhile. Meanwhile, Twitter is very much growing to be a bigger platform everyday, as more and more people use it. Although I am not very good at navigating social media, one thing I have learnt is to know when to post so that the most amount of people can see it. For me, the prime times seem to be around 7 PM to 9PM, when everyone is on their phones or laptops browsing.
ReplyDeleteI think different social media is designed for different purposes.
ReplyDeleteFor me, I think Facebook is like a connection with friends. People usually know their Facebook friends in real life. So, Facebook is like a connection between you and your friends.
Blogger is more private. You can write your thoughts and share your mood on Blog. Blog does not have word limit which is different to twitter. You can express yourself completely by using blogger.
Twitter is a media for fun and quick information. Tweets are very short. It is more like a media for entertaining. Almost everyone has twitter. It is a good platform to market yourself. You can share any thoughts on twitter. It is very casual. A lot of famous celebrities uses twitter to build their personal brand. You can reach the public by using twitter if you have a lot of followers.
Youtube is a media that people can actually see you. You can share your personal life, your work, your interest... You can easily catch people's attention by using video. A lot of famous Youtuber has their own Vlog. Youtube has becoming a important advertising platform nowadays. Building a personal brand on Youtube can lead to a lot of benefits. One of my friend uses a Youtube Vlog to start his car dealer business. It is now really successful. \
It is a little hard to engage all the media at once. Maybe you can put links of all those media at the end of your Youtube video. That may work.
For me, if i have to choose two media channels, I will choose Twitter and Youtube. Those two channels can reach the most population. Twitter is a good place to share your thoughts and ideas. I can also use Vlog to catch people's attention and make they curious about me. Those two channels are very efficient ways for SMM. I think I will create some interesting content if i am managing the channels. I will post something about my interest.
Hello everyone!!
ReplyDeleteIt is very important to know witch type of content are you sharing, and also witch is your target because depend on it, you are going to talk about different things and using the grammar and vocabulary adapted to your target. Another thing that we have to think is witch channel is the most adapted to communicate with our objective public. We have different media channel like Facebook, Twitter, Youtube..etc and depend on the type of the content that you want to share and your target you are going to use one instead of another one.
The good thing of media channel is that you can use all of them at the same time because they complement each other between them. If i had to select only two media channels I would choose Facebook because you can share at the same time pictures and also you can post a lot of information about different topics, in Facebook you can find a lot of interesting articles and also you can share them with your friends. Another channel would be Twitter because is more professional platform than the others from my point of view. Some strategies that I use for managing my social media are: the fist thing is share relevant content and in case of Facebook beautiful pictures about for example trips, food..etc and also it is very important to maintain a good relationships with your follower and give them feedbacks and replay their comments.
Determining the what content to share is dependent largely upon what product or service is being promoted and who the target audience is. Working in healthcare and academia, there is a host of information that can be shared which a number of people could be looking for. I will narrow it down further to health concerns unique to women. There are many questions that women are embarrassed to talk about, even with their health care provider. Posts that deal with urinary incontinence for instance, or HPV vaccinations for preteens or other subject matters that may be taboo to some, are subject matters that the group I work for can provide a lot of information on. And this is what our target audience need - something that they are too shy to bring up.
ReplyDeleteWhile there are so many social media channels to choose from, I think the materials that out group can share lend themselves best to blogs and even short informative videos. These are what will disseminate the "meat" of the matter. However, creating buzz on Twitter and engaging the community in a Facebook page will also be beneficial in terms of spreading the word about the practice that can address women's health issues with the knowledgeable providers who gave them information that they were seeking. If I had to choose only two social media channels, I would choose short videos and Facebook. These channels appeal to the age range of women that our practitioners are likely to treat - from young adults to retirees.
Hey everybody !
ReplyDeleteTo know what content to share in each media channel, we must know what they have been made for. I’ve choose Facebook and Instragram. This two media are easy to make them bankable.
At the beginning, Facebook has been created to connect people and friends trough a same university. Quickly, people cross the university and open to others then worldwide. Nowadays, each brands must have a facebook page to deal with clients or to make business.
In my opinion, Facebook can be use as a previous website and to deal with clients who’s need help. It can be useful to announce each news on it, promotions and newsletters. To another point, it can also be used to sell your products or to connect your website with your facebook.
Instagram has been created to share pictures and adventures. Nowadays, people use to make money. Many companies use famous influencers to make advertising through them. It can be used to create your brand, you can sell on Instagram and then create your website. I really like Instagram because it’s easy to use and many people can share it. It’s really easy to spread your products on this social media.
Hi everybody! When it comes to choosing content to post on social media you have to be catchy, entertaining and original. What you share on social media has to match your brand image. Then you have to decide on what media you want to reach your target, which is the most relevant.
ReplyDeleteI believe, each social media has its own crowd with its own characteristics (photo/ videos/ words/memes...). Now of course you’re not going to create multiple campaign for multiple social media but you will have to adjust your content depending on which social media you’re targeting, for example a video for YouTube, a photo for Instagram, a short message or meme for twitter...
If I had to select only 2 media channels I would select large social medias, first Instagram, because it’s really intuitive and because like they say, a picture is worth a 1000 words. Then, my second one would be Twitter. With Twitter you can reach and communicate directly with the consumer, which can be useful for feedbacks for example.
To handle my social media marketing I would track the best timing to post content so I can reach a maximum of people. Also, replying to comments is really important because it shows that you care about your customers and turn them into faithful clients if they don’t feel left behind.
Hi everybody!
ReplyDeleteThe moment we post something on any social media platform, we kick back and wait for the Likes, Shares and comments to come pouring in. But… what of the occasions when they never come? With over 300 million daily users for Twitter alone, and over six thousand Tweets per second… there’s no doubt that this network offers an exceptional opportunity to create a channel through which you can communicate with your target audience.
On the other hand, the sheer enormity which social media encompasses presents the challenge of breaking through all that noise. A challenge to which the solution lies in creating exceptional content.
Social media users love visuals, be it videos, photos or even GIFs. Take care to ensure these are appropriate to your target group – don’t let yourself be swept away by the latest trends if they are not in line with what your intended audience seeks and likes.
#Hashtags are also a clear path to boosting your chances of being discovered by new users – and, consequently, growing the engagement on your site. These aid users in tuning out the excess of published content, and finding exactly what they are looking for. Take care to share what they are interested in. Yours audience should be looking forward to reading your new material! They should be excited to share and reply to your updates, something which may be achieved if you cater to their needs and engage correctly with them.
You can ask your audience what they enjoy and search for, using their responses as a charting course to plan accordingly what content you’ll publish in the future. Study their problems, interests and what they are doing online. Content marketing is centered on this practice, and aids companies in strengthening loyalty from customers.
Facebook and Twitter share common ground, since most authors employ these platforms to promote the materials they publish on other sites, such as WordPress or BlogSpot. With the help of images and catchy titles, they divert the audience of these social networks to their own personal pages, effectively creating a fan base by employing the current one of another net.
Snapchat, on the other hand, employs its own elements to promote products and brands. Companies can acquire filters designed specifically for their promotion, which are offered to users who will employ these when creating their own content… Thus the engagement and affiliation with the enterprise skyrockets by just offering the format which your audience can use to make their own publications.
Given that each social media site has its particular attributes, it is not recommendable to share the same content throughout all of them, indiscriminately. Each platform offers a determined set of characteristics, which may be more or less in line of the aims that your campaign has.
Furthermore, we must take into account the nature of each network, and determine how to tailor the content publicized to each of these.
Determine which media channels are most in line with your target audience, goals and resources, and plan accordingly before sharing any content. After all, digital footprints are all but permanent.
It depend of the size of the informations. I will post a short text engaging with the link of my blog on Twitter for instance. I will post a picture on Facebook. Because picture create more engagement on Facebook. And I think you don’t have the same target on every social media. So, the best thing to do is to know your target on each social media and adapt a little bit your message.
ReplyDeleteI think it’s impossible. Because like I say just above. Every social media have their characteristics. I think you just have to adapt a little bit your comment for every social media. A picture on Facebook / Instagram, a text on Twitter. And all informations on your blog.
If I had to choose I will choose Instagram then Twitter. Instagram because it is really easy to use and you can generate a lot of traffic and easy feedback. Then Twitter is growing fast and (I think) it will become one of the biggest platform behind Facebook.
I think the presence on social networks increases your visibility. So I will promote the content throw all social media. So it will create engagement and visibility.
At once we have to distinguish if we want to use a social media on the private or company plan.
ReplyDeleteOn the private plan we have to be very careful. Privacy is not granted on the social media and our politics, religion or whatever opinions can lead to prejudices in professional life.
On the company field i would choose Twitter and Facebook.
Facebook because it is the most known and most used Social Media on the Market. So It lead at more visibility. It is the best way to promote your brand with ads available on it. I would organize a Facebook campaign where the goal is to like the ads to have the chance to win a price or something else. The same with sharing the ad. It is a way to spread the ad and be the more visible we can. This strategy is used by a lot of company.
Then I would choose Twitter because it is the fastest way we can spread ideas with Tweets which are very short announcements. Companies are very present on Twitter by organizing some contest with a price to win. The hashtag is very used because it is viral and it allows to be everywhere and share very quickly.
I think we have to adapt the strategy in function of the social media selected and way of communication used. It is good to be on the social media for a company but we have to control the image we send and keep a good positioning.
how do you know what content to share and through what media channel?
ReplyDeleteFor example :
Facebook : text image links videos
Twitter : Text links
Instagram : Image videos
Linkedin : Image text links videos
Website : Text image links videos
Is it possible to engage fully in all of these media formats at once?
No because the audience change for all of the medias. Young audience on instagram, and professional on Linkedin for example
If you had to select only two media channels, which two would you choose to be your primary social media channels and why?
Linkedin and facebook because they both have a large audience and they both can be formal and professional. But it really depends of the field
