Wk2 Blogging Secrets to Success

Greetings Social Media Marketers

I hope that everyone had fun setting up their blog last week. Throughout the class we will be exploring strategies for effective social media marketing.  This week, I'd like to focus on BLOGs.  While there are many strategies I want to share the "golden secret" to successful blogging.

.... The greater the number of blogs that you follow, the more followers you will get.  The more you participate in other people's blogs, the more traffic to your site you will get, and the more comments you post on other people's blogs, the more comments you will get.

The good news is that this is "FREE" you can easily find other blogs that are similar to yours, or in the same industry/topic as yours.  You can start posting and participating frequently.  If it is in a topic that you truly are interested in, this will be enjoyable and insightful.  What's the bad news? -Well the bad news is that this is very time consuming.... So yes, it's "free", but no it's not really free because your time is valuable.  If you are self-employed you have a lot of other things that need to get done.  If you work for someone else, they will soon start to question what you are doing with your time!

As we progress in the class we will continue to explore strategies for maximizing this strategy.

So for this week's discussion, share with me, what are three strategies that you can implement to promote blog growth?

Comments

  1. I think the best way for me to grow my blog is to reach out to friends/family/co-workers via Twitter and Facebook - I will also look at my contacts to grow my Twitter and Facebook followers. I'll follow more blogs, and begin commenting - it will be fun to search for more areas of interest.

  2. The three strategies that I think I can implement to promote blog growth is..
    1. materials. Whatever I try to disscuss in my blog, I think it's powerful way to talk with the materials that many person like.
    2. Viral Marketing. With the help of family and friends, I think I could get close to other people.
    3. Persistence. Even if few people are looking, I think being punctual is the essential point of blog growth.

  3. My blog will be about Sports.

1.-IDENTIFYING AUDIENCE: Like and follow different blogs related with mine, see who follows them and follows their follower.

2.- BE INFORMED AND ENGAGED: Watching the news, reading articles online, being informed of what is happening, and educating myself about what I want to talk about on my blog, will let me be very efficient and successes.

3.- MAKE IT FUN: For example
For Golf ; we can get suggestions of what new equipment or technology the follower wants us to give a review , this way we will clear any doubt the follower has and the manufacture of the equipment gets to know us.
For Baseball; we can raffle tickets, t-shirts, etc. that we will get from different sponsors (I know getting this from sponsors will take time. I’m a business woman so I know everything takes time)

    1. Nice points. Your point #2 raises an important concept... people want value from the blogs they read, so the question becomes how can you be perceived as valuable? Well one strategy is for you to be THEIR source of information. So as you watch news, articles, get informed, your followers will appreciate you for "filtering" all of this information and passing along to them (sharing) the information that is the most valuable or meaningful.

  4. The first strategy that I can implement to promote blog growth is to focus on the contents that I am specifically interested in. Focusing on what I like would definitely deepen my interest and encourage me to promote my blog growth.

Second, even though blogging is an online activity and we usually don't get to meet face-to-face, we can still communicate through the message system or comments (like this for example). The blogger and the users must communicate interactively complemeting each other.

Third, the blog should be neatly organized and make sure that new users can also find information easily. Also, providing a brief information in the profile section and choosing the right title that summarizes your blog can be really helpful.

    1. Thanks YooJeong, yes having a content concentration that is consistent is important. One way we lose followers is when we make a shift in content or the content is too unexpected. -Thanks

  5. The first thing I need to do is to overcome the fear I have of using a medium I have never used before and be comfortable with blogging.
Second, I will build on my existing network of family and friends and promote my new blog and invite everyone to my page.
Lastly, I will interact and communicate with other bloggers with whose interests I share or I can learn from. This will hopefully broaden my horizons and help me to grow as a blogger.

  6. First thing first : Maintain a good looking appearance of your blog, make it nice. Build your blog in a way that nobody is gonna think it's "old" "weird" "ugly", avoid your audience to simply not stay and neither read your content just because you were lazy to make your blog nice. A good looking blog reduce your bounce rate and so increase your audience and growth.

Secondly : Be relevant! Make sure that your overall content, following, make a sense and serve your content. If you're a nature photographer you shouldn't follow gym or food pages. Your content should also be centered on your brand/blog topic, you shouldn't spread in order to maintain a relevant content flow and so make your audience loyal.

Finally : Interact with others. The key to success in any social media is to interact with other, your audience, your colleagues, your followings. Answer to your audience comment, reward them for commenting and following your post by simply getting in touch with them and answering their comments. Comment your followings and colleagues posts, interact with them and try to create a community where you're all united around the same topic.

  7. 1. First of all, I need to listen to others and participate. Personally, promoting something means showing new objects to people and attracting them. People will obviously have some questions based on those objects, so we need to interact with them and solve out their curiosity.
    2. Second, we should not send unwated messages or emails to people. Those emails can be irritating to some people, so we are only allowed to notice them if we have their permissions.
    3. Finally, keep working on your blog and make it nicely to attract people. We need to organize the items well enough and do not confuse customers. Everything has to be neatly done, and attractive.

  8. Nowadays, the blog is a marketing "technology" widely used by companies, which find numerous profits there. Unlike a website, which corresponds to the window of a company, a professional blog is a more informal space of expression with a vocation to make some indirect communication on a company or its products/services.
I think that the purpose is to position your company as an expert / a reference in a precise domain, but also to bring visibility to your company.
3 strategies can be implemented in order to promote blog growth:

Communication strategy: to whom goes the communication? Therefore, a communication strategy is going to include the various communications targets which our customers, partners & employees. In a company, the trade communication is not unidirectional, that it’s not only made between the company and the customer. On the contrary, communicating has to think of the set of targets to be affected by the corporate communication. Therefore, It will allow creating the desire of purchase, to establish a corporate culture and to optimize the relations.

Content Strategy: To have a professional blog doesn’t mean writing what comes into the head of you and to publish it. A professional blog needs a well-planned strategy of contents, that is to say, know our objectives, determine one or several themes of our blog, choose its format, etc.

Implement a memorable device: The implementation of a memorable and characteristic strategy is an identity device. The simplest things are often the best in a strategy of contents. For example, It is possible to begin every article with a hard-hitting quotation.

    2. Nicely put Mans. Yes, rule #1 in marketing is know your audience and I think this is at the heart of what you are saying when you say to know "to whom goes the communication". Second, yes! - we must have a thought-out strategy. If we go in without a plan we can confuse our audience. -Nicely put, nice job.

  9. The three main strategies that I will implement to promote my blog's growth are the following:

    1. NETWORKING:
As we all know, it’s not about what you know... it’s about WHO you know. In the world of blogging, the key to growing and establishing a name for yourself lies in commenting, sharing... and commenting even more!

By establishing positive relationships with other authors in your same field, you'll discover ways in which to promote each other's content and reach greater audiences, thus finding mutual benefit in the exchange.

    2. YOUR AUDIENCE COMES FIRST:
For what is a king without a kingdom? And a blogger without a captive audience?

Discovering which subjects your target group are interested in is the first part in constructing a successful blogging name -- after all, if readers discover a site which caters to their taste, they're bound to stick around, and even share and promote your content.

By employing the correct keywords and monitoring trends, you'll be able to be found and followed by an ever-growing number of members belonging to your target profile. :)

    3. ENCOURAGE SHARING:
The more your blog's name pops up on social media pages, the greater the chances you'll gain traffic! By employing buttons for the main social media networks, such as Facebook and Twitter, users shall be able to promote your blog's name for you!

Adding images also boosts the chances that readers will share your content, since they love to share visuals.

  10. The first strategy, promote it on social media. Nowadays everybody have a social account like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn. So I can post the link of your new post on those social media. So my community will know that I updated my blog.

Second, try to do relevant article (to my target), and expose my point of view on a subjet. Like this week I talk about Branding myself, and why it’s important to market yourself.

Third, find blog like mine. People like to be in communities. You always belong to a community. I will find blogs. So I will start to comment and give MY point of view on a post. I will be able to discuss about a specific subject. And maybe say « You can take a look of my point of view on my blog ».

  11. The first strategy that I can implement to promote blog growth is understand what my audience wants to see and is passionate about. Besides, I can provide information they want.

The second strategy is having interactions with audience. For example, following readers, replying to comments from them, answering questions from them and sending my specific information only to them is a key to increase my blog's traffic. Communication between individuals encourages to make the tie strong.

The third strategy is writing the article that has quality. Whether or not the content is attractive and it is well worth reading for readers is so important.

  13. The three strategies that I can implement to promote my blog are:

The first one is to check that the content of my blog is relevant and understandable to the people who follow my blog. I need to take care about what I post in my blog and the way I write.
It is very important to take care of the grammar and the vocabulary.

The second strategy is to know your target very well.I need to know very well who is my target to be able to connect with them, also know what they like and what their interests are. If we know our target is easier to reach them and create lasting relationships.

The third strategy is to publish my blog on my social networks. Nowadays everyone use social networks so we can use them as a tool to promote our blogs and reach more easily the public we want to address. We can uses social networks like a tool to difference our self from the others.

  14. My friend and I created a fitness blog in China. Right now, it has around 180,000 followers. It is called 健助师 in Weibo. Weibo is the most popular and comment blog website in China. It is very tough when we start the blog.
The strategies I use to promote blog growth is
    1. Keep updating everyday. You can post either video or articles to catch people's attention
    2. We pay some money for big blog owners to promote for us.
    3. You need to develop online relationship with ur followers.
That's the three important point I come up with.

  15. 1. Define the countries to conquer

The first thing to do if you are considering international development is, of course, to specify the countries in which you want to be present in.

    2. Adapt the offer and the marketing

    Know your targets
It is certain: your offer will not necessarily be exportable as such abroad. Adjustments may be necessary to better meet the expectations of local consumers.

    3. Set up an effective marketing organization

Centralized or decentralized marketing? The question arises when a company is present internationally.

  18. 1: I would promote my blog via social media which is the best way to make your blog known.
2: I would constantly update my blog to make him interactive and aware with the news and so people will be interested in visiting it.
3: I would make my blog user friendly, easy to use so it would be attractive and a lot of people would visit it.

  19. What are three strategies that I can implement to promote blog growth?

First, I could use other blogs to help promote my blog. Typing witty comments can boost your comment to the top and allow other people to see your account. I can even ask other blogs that I am close with to help promote my blog to their followers.

Second, there are specific times to post that are optimal. Being able to find those times can allow more people to see your content when they search for content. Being the fastest to put out content on new information, for example, can help reach more followers.

The third way would be to make everything aesthetically pleasing. This may be a superficial way to get followers, but many people judge the books by their covers. If a blog does not seem well put together and "pretty," not many people will follow it.

  20. The three strategies that I would use to promote my blog growth are :

    1) Follow and comment a lot of blogs/accounts in the same category as mine to be known with all the social media that I use (Instagram/ Facebook/Twitter).

    2) Associate some of my posts with different brands. In this manner, brands start to be interested in what you are doing with their product because it brings them customers and followers for me.

    3) Be positive, staying up to date to keep your audience and create an honest relationship with my followers to earn their confidence and loyalty to the brand (if one is created).

  21. There are many strategies used to implement social media, the three main strategies that my company will use are observation data, interaction and engaging; and having options of user friendly platforms.

    1) First step to successful social media opportunity starts with collecting data by observing competitors of like-mind or like-products social media platforms and channels. Using information of how other competitors utilize the marking personas and contents in their social media sites. For example, observing customer’s draw or pulse towards the services or company. Including opportunity to watch for what works and what does not work.

    2) Next step to create plan to start interaction and engaging potential clients or customers by building informational social media channels that may attract their interest. Start building relationships and offering chance to earn their ‘permission’ or ‘opt-in’ into my social media platform for valuable insight and support. This includes targeting specific professionals, specialized based needed customers and B2B (Business to Business) clients to key in unique products and services from my company.

    3) Last, but not the least, offering vast options of user friendly platform or channel that includes informational, entertaining and accessible communication for specific special needs with products and services that are unique for certain clients allowing full access to graphics, blogs, vlogs, with descriptive audio, open captioning and visuals. With this, will generate leads and exposures to ‘grow the biz’ with various products and services.

    1. Nicely put Todd. Absolutely, conducting market research before delving is is key to being strategic. The lack of market research, I'd say, is the reason that so many business endeavors fail including e-enterprise endeavors. -Nicely put, great job!

  22. Nowadays there are many strategies we can use to make our blog's promotion grow.

First of all we need to pay attention to every other person from the blogger community and start by getting interested into their work, commenting and following their blogs to increase our own number of views (and followers that come next), and of course increase the popularity of our blog.

Secondly I think it's important to be regular in the publication of articles on our blogs. The more frequently we write, the more we will get views on our profiles as our articles can appear on internet with a simple search.

Finally, and I would say the major point: we need to do the promotion of our blogs in other social networks as Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. The connection between social medias is very powerful and should not be ignored. This can help us a lot increase our blog popularity.

  23. The three strategies I will use to promote my blog are:

    1) Publishing more articles. You need to get your blog being attractive and make it alive. If your posts are interesting, people will expect more articles each week.

    2) Partnership with other bloggers. You must dedicate articles to others bloggers to spread your blog.

    3) Use social media as Facebook, twitter or instagram to spread your blog to others countries and communities.

  24. To promote my blog I'd follow these three steps :

    1. Specialize my blog on a certain field, there is already a lot of blog, so I rather speak about something that I care about and where I feel confident enough to talk about.

    2. Set a "routine", what I mean by that is that I would try to post in blog regularly ( once per day for example) I think its really important to post regularly in your blog so you can create an expectation from your followers and turn it into a real support.

    3. Keep an eye on what is going on other blogs, I don't want my blog to be just another blog, we have to renew ourself all the time. Going on other blog will, I think, allows you to see what people expect, what they want and more important what they don't want. Sometimes you can learn from other peoples mistakes.

    1. Yes, Momen, "setting a 'routine'" for your post is very important, great reminder. Posting consistently in a "routine" that your followers can rely on is needed. So it's better to post once a week (on the same day) EVERY WEEK, NEVER MISSING, then it is to try 5 times a week but, on all sorts of different days. Remember your social media activity is a PRODUCT. When you buy Coca-cola you expect it to taste the same and essentially be the same product every time you buy it. The same with your social media. -Nice job!

  25. Great tips class, nice job! Several of you mentioned to be relevant, and that is absolutely critical. We can also apply a "technical approach" to being relevant and that is through the use of KEY WORDS. So in addition to including themes/topics/language that resonate with people we can use strategies that boost traffic that comes from search engines (especially Google) by using key words. This is part of what we refer to as search engine optimization (SEO). One way to do this is to incorporate key words into the title of the post (which is one reason that the title for your post is so important). Then incorporate those key words into the blog post, especially early in the post. You might be asking, how do you know what are "key words", well you have to do some research. Key words "trend" and become popular or fall-out of popularity. We will be discussing more on this later in the course, but using Twitter to keep an eye on what is popular and trending is one way that we can use these social media tools to leverage each other.

  26. You have to know how to differentiate yourself and be confident.

Whether you are an employee, self-employed, entrepreneur or student as I am now, knowing how to market and sell is essential for a successful career. There are proven methods to build and promote a good self-image.

First, be sure of yourself at work. The second, to care for his communication, his gestures, and his tone.

The one that comes with our time and culture is well known to have a good reputation online.
