As we wind down the class I wanted to talk a little bit about the job opportunities available in the realm of social media marketing.   As you’ve learned there is a lot that falls under social media marketing and there are a lot of new specialties for job opportunities that fall under the category of professional social media marketing. Wk8 SEO and Viral Marketing

Search Engine Optimization also called, SEO, is simply the strategic attempt to maximize the number of visitors to a particular website, profile, or post through efforts that the site/profile/post appears high on the list of results returned by a search engine.  Another term often used in conjunction is the notion of “viral” marketing which occurs when social media users themselves promote the website/profile/post which snowballs into many, many shares.  Viral posts are wonderful if the public is promoting you in a positive light, on the other hand it can be detrimental to a brand if the viral posts are negative.  The key to remember is that viral media is actually very rare.  It’s considered to be an “outlier” and can be difficult to predict, nearly impossible to manage, and is usually short-lived.  While many will claim that they know the “secret formula” for making content go viral, the reality is there is no one secret formula, but rather a combi...
